Abstract
The methodology of quality control in clinical chemistry has been steadly developed since the first control chart was introduced by Levey and Jennings. Its. progress was fast and now the quality control program become an indispensable tool to measure the efficiency of clinical laboratory medicine. However the quality control in. Korea has been
discussed since 1976.
Author summarized the data of BUN, total protein and thymol turbidity from two general hospital laboratories using the "Average of Normals" method of Hoffman and put them into the twin plot method. to clarify the . common problem in the _ quality
control program.
The results were as follows:
1. The normal -values of BUN, total ¢¥protein and thymol turbidity in Lab. A were 7.3-18.9, mg/dl, 5.1-7.3g/dl :arid 0.8-7.1 unit and the values in. Lab.. B were 5.1-18. lmg/dl, 5.17.5g/dl and 0-5.5 unit respectively.
2. In Lab. A, precision of ¢¥BUN was variable, whereas accuracy was variable in Lab., B.
3. Accuracy of total protein was more variable than precision in both Lab. A and B.
4. Both precision and accuracy of thymol turbidity were variable in both Lab. A and. B.
